The opening scene of the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me finds James Bond in a ski chalet, unexpectedly contacted by MI6 to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a Soviet submarine. Skiing away from the chalet, Bond is ambushed and a chase begins. To escape his attackers, he skis off of the top of a cliff. Then, at the last possible moment, Bond opens a parachute—complete with the Union Jack—and the movie's opening credits roll.
The parachuting segment might have looked very different, however, as during filming the stuntman's ski caught the parachute and could have disabled it!
