Häufig sind gerinnungshemmende Medikamente erforderlich, z.B. Marcumar nach einer Herzoperation. Quick-Tests nach A.J. QUICK (1894-1978) liefern Ergebnisse, die zur Therapiekontrolle herangezogen werden. Alternativ werden heute INR-Werte (International Ratio) bevorzugt. Eine Umrechnung der Quick-Werte in INR-Werte oder umgekehrt wird im Folgenden diskutiert.
