The Monte Carlo method was the first instance of a stochastic methodology used to solve what would be intractable problems in the physical sciences. As computers have become more powerful and computation more mainstream, Monte Carlo methods have become ingrained in a physical scientist's problem-solving toolkit. In fact, due to the popularity and usage of Monte Carlo in solving physical systems, other avenues have adopted the methodology to solve problems in finance, economics, and insurance assessment. After its initial creation, it was the physicist Enrico Fermi who saw the possibility of utilizing Monte Carlo methods in solving quantum many-body problems. In this worksheet, these quantum Monte Carlo methods will be outlined and described in the context of their modern application in physical science research. This worksheet uses the Maple Quantum Chemistry Toolbox
