Description

Examples

Calling Sequence

det(X)

Parameters

X

-

MapleMatrix, or MatlabMatrix

Description

•

The Matlab[det] command computes the determinant of a matrix using MATLAB®.

•

Since constants are considered one-by-one matrices, the determinant of a constant returns the constant.

•

Executing the Matlab[det] command returns a float.

Examples

Define the Maple matrix

withMatlab:

maplematrix_aMatrix1,3,5,6,4,2,7,8,1:

The determinant of this MapleMatrix is computed as

Matlabdetmaplematrix_a

112.

A matrix is set in MATLAB®, manipulated, and the new matrix's determinant is computed

Matlabsetvarmatlabmatrix_a,maplematrix_a

MatlabevalMmatlabmatrix_b = matlabmatrix_a ^ 2

Matlabdetmatlabmatrix_b

12544.
