Mechanics of Materials

A new version is now available.
Find out what’s new in version 2.0!

Product Description:

Mechanics of Materials™ is a toolbox for MapleTM that offers solutions to linear and elastic beam bending, bar torsion and bar tension problems. Using Maple’s powerful math engine, problem specifications can be formulated in numeric or symbolic form, offering graphical and analytical solutions for rod sections with up to 100 separate segments. The functions yield impressive graphics and detailed analytical solutions, ideal for educational and training applications.

The Mechanics of Materials toolbox combines the symbolic-analytic power of the Maple system with graphical representations and modern interface features. It enables the user to work with analytic expressions by formulating problem definitions in full symbol notation. The product includes eight templates which allow fill-in-the-blank/point-and-click interactions, making it easy to get started solving problems, quickly.

The toolbox consists of three packages containing sixteen functions. These functions perform various calculations based on the theoretical foundation of strength of materials, and the mechanics of materials.

Overall, the toolbox redefines the educational methods for demanding engineering disciplines, such as structural mechanics and stench of materials; creating a vast potential in areas such as mechanical design, machine building, and mechatronics.
