What's New in Maple Flow - Math Software for Engineering Calculations

What's New in Maple Flow

Maple Flow is updated several times a year, as we continually improve the product and respond to customer requests. On this page, you will find details about the latest enhancements to Maple Flow, as well as information about earlier updates.

Getting the Update
The first major Maple Flow release of the year is automatically sent to all Maple Flow customers who are members of the Maplesoft Elite Maintenance Plan at that time. You will receive an email with instructions once the release is available. Subsequent updates throughout the rest of the year are issued through the Check for Updates mechanism built into Maple Flow. Update releases can also be found by visiting Download Product Updates.

Maple Flow 2025
Maple Flow 2025.2
Get more value and insights from your critical design worksheets and pass your results into other software tools with new features available in Maple Flow 2025.2.
  • Run Maple Flow worksheets from Python
The new Python integration lets you execute Maple Flow worksheets directly from Python scripts. Modify parameters inside a worksheet, run it, and extract the required results - all within a Python workflow.

Worksheets can be executed using the Python distribution bundled with Maple Flow or any external Python distribution.

  • Run Maple Flow worksheets in parallel for parameter sweeps
Maple Flow 2025.2 enables worksheets to be executed multiple times in parallel, each with different parameter values. This allows parameter sweeps to run much faster and supports rapid exploration of large solution spaces.

Intensive worksheets can be evaluated simultaneously, reducing overall computation time. Parallel execution is fully automatic and requires no special programming.

Other new usability features:

  • Print Extents can now be set globally for all sessions, or just for the current session.
  • PDF export now respects custom fonts - any user-installed fonts used in the worksheet will appear correctly in the exported PDF.
  • Numerous performance improvements across the product.
  • Fixes to many user-reported issues.

Available to: All Maple Flow 2025 users.

Maple Flow 2025

The Maple Flow 2025 release takes your engineering design calculations to the next level with a fresh new interface, smart formatting features, AI-enabled tools, even more connectivity options, and our most powerful mathematical engine to date!

Built for the way engineers like to work!
  • Performance boost
This release of Maple Flow has a significant boost to the math engine to easily keep stride with your calculation needs. The performance improvements help in the completion of complex calculations such as matrix operations, and larger worksheets execute faster – typically cutting the computation time in half!
  • Introducing the new Ribbon-based Interface
Access all your favorite commands and more from the simple menu tabs.
  • Items are grouped logically with helpful icons and labels to offer a clean and contemporary feel.
  • The ribbon provides contextual support. For example, if you click on a drawing on your workspace, you will see a new Draw tab for interacting with the illustration.
  • Organize your worksheet with a Table of Contents
With one click, Maple Flow can generate a Table of Contents (TOC) for easy navigation to each section by detecting certain text Styles and adding page numbering and hyperlinks. You can circulate your results and reports with confidence knowing that the embedded TOC links are also preserved when the worksheet is exported to a PDF.
  • Expanded symbols palette
By popular request, users can now click to add mathematical symbols and operators from the new Common Symbols palette directly into an open worksheet. This gives easy access to Boolean conditional operations, the phasor angle, set notation elements, and more.
  • The AI Formula Assistant adds convenience to calculations
Save time when tracking down common equations by using the built-in AI prompt to search for engineering and scientific formulas. The AI Formula Assistant uses third party large language models to gather related formulas along with notes and explanations, helping you to narrow down the entry you want. You can quickly insert the matching equation into your worksheet ready for evaluation.
Expanding the reach of your engineering analysis
  • Turn your entire Maple Flow worksheet into a function
You can now execute Maple Flow worksheets directly from within Maple or other Maple Flow documents, passing the inputs and receiving outputs as a command line, without sacrificing simplicity or readability. This makes it easier to perform parameter studies and optimizations, and pass in-depth analysis between design teams.
  • Access your Maple Flow analysis from within Excel®
The Maple Flow Add-in for Excel lets you run Maple Flow worksheets from inside an Excel spreadsheet directly from the formula line. By using a simple table-based interface, project teams can leverage your deep analysis in Excel, and define inputs and outputs without writing code. Advanced users can write formulas in Excel to interrogate Flow worksheets, and use Excel's tools for parameter sweeps, analysis and optimization.
  • Migrate your legacy Mathcad® files to Maple Flow
The Maple Flow Migration Assistant is a free add-on to Maple Flow 2025 that provides help when moving content from historical Mathcad 13, 14, and 15 worksheets. This can run as single file and batch conversion options to salvage design worksheets in .xmcd file format. This tool saves significant time for calculation sheets with simple through to intermediate levels of complexity. This is supplemented by the option of migration project support available from Maplesoft Engineering Services.
Other new usability features:
  • Equations are now simpler to enter using the keyboard due to Maple Flow’s responsive equation editing capabilities.
  • Large matrices are now scrollable and resizable as data is being input.
  • Units-aware rounding allows results to be consistently formatted based on the units used.

Available to: Maple Flow customers who were enrolled in the Maplesoft Elite Maintenance Plan at the time of its release. (Customers who were not under EMP at that time can contact Maplesoft sales to obtain an upgrade.)
